John Hollerud, M.D.

Biography

I have been caring for families at Child & Teen Medical Center for more than 30 years. Originally from Austin, Minnesota, I earned my medical degree from the University of Minnesota and completed my pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Akron, Ohio.

One of the most meaningful aspects of my career has been the opportunity to care for children from infancy through adulthood—and now, to care for the children of those former patients. Building lasting relationships with patients and their families has been the most rewarding part of my career.

I have special interests in children’s mental health, asthma management, and supporting families with infants who may be experiencing feeding or temperament challenges.

Outside of medicine, my family’s travel experiences and love of animals have made me a go-to resource for Disney vacation planning and dog training advice. I am also deeply committed to community service and volunteerism.

Approach to Care

I believe that trust and open communication are the foundation of excellent pediatric care. I focus on building strong relationships with both children and their caregivers so families feel comfortable asking questions and sharing concerns. By understanding each child and family beyond their medical needs, I strive to partner with families in making thoughtful, collaborative decisions that support the overall health and well-being of the entire family.
